Greetings, can anyone tell me the correct procedure for laying roofing felt onto a flat roof. We have just had our patio roof recovered with 3 layers of roofing felt and its leaking.
In England hot (or cold) bitumen tar is spread onto the roof and the rolls of felt are rolled out onto it. Usually 3 layers are applied finishing in what we call Green Mineral felt. The guy who did this work here in Holland simply rolled out the felt and flashed a gas burner over the back of the roofing felt as he did so. Would this be a enough to make it watertight and is it the correct way to do things?
